To keep signal levels higher - lowest levels anywhere in my circuit should be 0dB, if you put the pot before the gain stage the signal feeding the gain stage would be in the -12dB range.0

+1...by running higher signals through the circuitry and attenuating last, the S/N ratio is better maintained.

Not yet... been to busy here at work to devote any time to playing with it. Still need to do some noise sweeps.
