DIY mini cabs

Hi all,
I want to build my own cabs, but are a little bit unsure of materials to use, and thickness for the walls...?
I made a test-cab almost similar in size to the new Trace Elliot 2x8 cabs. Made it with some pine boards i had laying around, not too thick..maybe 10mm.. threw in 2 x Faital 8" drivers. And it actually sounds amazing, but the pine cab is not so sturdy (it cracks) and i cut the boards with a hand saw, so not perfect. So now i want to make a few more cabs, but machine cut materials and maybe in MDF or other material in correct thickness for this kind of cab.

Based on my experience - Baltic birch and PL pro for solid wood choices and glue that fills crappy cuts.

My build experience went through the Bill Fitzmaurice site (almost all the threads are based on BFM designs, though). I'm sure there's other forums with good advice, but that gave me a really good, clean cab with a voice that carries @ low power requirements.

I've used 10mm poplar plywood with lots of internal bracing on my last two DIY cab projects.

Pros: very light, and no audible difference to heavier/thicker woods if braced correctly
Cons: prone to receive dings and scratches, shouldn't be handled by bandmates etc. ;)

This is a 8" PA subwoofer combined with a dedicated mid driver.

So, it can be done...
