DNA Owners Group

I haven't done a direct comparison yet, but the first thing that struck me was how quiet the DNA 1350 amp is. There is no background noise coming out of the speakers, which is great! When I turn on my WT550 there is noticeable background noise, not to the point of being an issue or obstructing the sound of the bass or being annoying, but it's there. I think the lack of background noise with the 1350 allows for the sound of the bass to be very clear and present, if that makes sense. I'll try to do a direct comparison on the weekend.

Care to give Baer vs DNA cab review?

Both are different flavours of awesomeness. A bit apples and oranges kind of thing. The DNS410 (8 ohm) has been my main cab for almost 3 years now. The previous local DNA dealer here in Toronto had a 410, 210 and a 115. But no 112's. As I had always been a 410 user I decided to go that route even though I felt it might be overkill based on what I had read about it at the time. I was blown away by the clarity, depth and sheer power/performance that it had (previous cabs were GK, Yorkville and Marshall 410's) The DNA forced me to clean up my technique as I was now hearing all my mistakes a little too well. I was using a Eden WT 500 bridged into it (500W @ 8 ohm) and upgraded to a WT800. It has everything I could ask for out of a cab that size and more. It's a concert cab and easily puts my bass up front in the mix with my band (a bit overkill but that's what volume knobs are for). My current band is a classic rock/blues/country gig and I'm not a slap/tap kind of player. Strictly finger style. Both the guitarists in the band are using hopped up Fender Blues jr type amps and my drummer is tasteful and not too loud (a huge improvement over some of my old bands).
So I was looking for a smaller cab option for rehearsal and smaller room gigs and naturally looked into the DNS112. That's when things went south with the previous DNA dealer here in Toronto. They actually refused to order one for me as they "still hadn't sold the 210 or the 115" yet (strange business model). That pretty much ended my patronage there. The good news on that front is that now we have Club Bass Toronto that now carries the DNA line so that will be a huge improvement.
So I was looking at other options (modular portable system options) and stumbled onto the Baer thread here on Talkbass. The Mid Driver loaded Baer cab sounded like it might be a cool addition to my gear and pretty much ordered it on gut feeling. I liked the first one so much that I was GASsed to get a second when Roger introduced the series II. I was also looking for a different vibe to pair with my Traynor YBA-1A (90 W of tubes) and I got that from the ML cabs.
I love both cab brands equally for different reasons. I'm not a huge fan of horns with overdriven bass so the ML cabs get the nod if I'm in that mood.
I have used both the DNS410 and one ML112 at the same time (WT800 through the 410 and slaving my WT500 bridged through the 112 and it was very good outdoor rig. My favourite comment from the crowd was "That's the most professional sounding bass rig I've ever heard".). The ML stack is very good through the WT800 as well.
So it all comes down to bringing what I need for the gig and what kind of mood I'm in (and how many stairs there are). One of these days I'll want to bring all of the cabs and a couple of amps to a big outdoor gig and let it all loose but that'll probably just get me fired.
Sorry that this is not full of technical information (better low-mids @ such and such a Hz) but I'm not a sound/recording engineer so I won't try to BS anybody here. Just a story with a happy ending.
For pure Hi-Fi clarity and an abundance of boom, the DNS410 just kills. This thing will take a boat load of power.
The ML's are just as fantastic but have a very different but pleasing character of their own and go great with a EUB. They don't have the sheen of a horn but that can be a good thing sometimes (for me). They also sound a bit more full in the low end at lower volumes. I have never heard the DNS112 live so I can't compare them that way.
Both cabs respond very well to EQ (I only tweak what I need to and run as flat as possible).
Also having the ability to run a clean side and a dirty side at the same time is a bonus. My Radial AB/Y box gets a lot of use.

Now, if I only had the coin to spring for the 1350........

Ive owned the Baer ML-112 and DNA DNS-210. I got rid of the Baer and kept the DNA.

The Baer is really a very different beast. Its tough to compare it to a more traditional design cab. The mid-driver was tough for me to adjust to. It cuts amazingly well through a mix. If you're in a band where that's needed that cab delivers. I didn't need that in my weekly church gig.

If I had the $$$ for both and played in a variety of rooms and bands then it would be handy to have both.

I'm now running my 1350 through two DNS112 cabs, sounds very nice. The 1350 has a nice warm tone, And the cabs are very clear and responsive. I play a Guild hollowbody and it sounds great through the DNA amp and cabs, I'm very happy with this set up.

Really wanted a DNA 410 4 ohm and found one for sale from a "josh " in Maine who is also selling an Eden WT 800. To make a long story short the cab arrived with a ten frozen. Sent it backed and the seller stiffed me on the refund. In any case, David Nordschow was contacted and said he had a bunch of bad tens and that dropping them as apparently UPS did should not have froze the speaker. In any case watch out for bad tens and don't buy anything from a guy named Josh Thibeault in Oxford. Maine who is trying to sell an Eden WT 800c.
