I wonder if it had something to do with the material makeup of some of the components. Wasn’t one of the marketing points of Eden amps that they used gold contacts and that might have contributed to higher rates of oxidation etc?
I would expect the opposite to be true. Contrary to popular belief, Gold has a lower conductivity than Copper, meaning that Copper is the better conductor, but Gold has a very high corrosion resistance (gold is one of the least reactive metals in the periodic table), so I would expect gold contacts to accumulate little, if any, oxidation.
