Do all nice heads not have a headset output?

Phones out: yet another reason to buy a Thunderfunk. 
Short of picking up a TFB, though, +1 the mixer suggestion, as it also simplifies silent rehearsal to one or more pre-recorded sources.

would that allow my to hook up my mp3 and bass and listen to both via my headphones? Like your mixer?

Yeah i was lookign at cheap earbud style phones for sake of laziness. Not over ear or "studio" type phones.
No, the BDDI allows one input to go to two (or three?) outputs. Basically, the opposite of what you want.
Two 1/4" and one XLR.
Of the two quarter-inch outs, one is affected, the other unaffected by the BDDI. The XLR of course is affected.
Works great for running a pedal tuner!

I don't think it would work reading the spec on the DI. You could take it to Guitar Center and plug in an 1/4 adaptor to the DI out and plug headphones into that and see what happens, who knows it may work.

Even if he could use the DI out as a headphones out (which I seriously doubt), he still can't plug in any MP3 device with the bass.
Yeah, after I started looking for this specific feature on high-end heads, I've found very few examples. It would be nice if everyone -- or at least those who make portable or micro heads -- followed Eden's lead.
Not many people buy a powerful head to use with earphones.

okay I see, now will any "mixer" be able to hook both my bass and ipod and listen through headphones?

Most will. That's the right direction to look in. There are also dedicated headphone amps which feature an iPod-suitable input; the Cafe Walter is one popular example.
