do basses without a serial number mean they are fake?

Not necessarily.....some company's just don't put serial numbers on their instruments...it's usually a sign of being mass produced...my 2014..2015 Glarry 5 string jazz don't have a number...my vintage 1980s Suzuki don't have a number....Fender made guitars they didn't number early on if I remember right.....some companys either just make way to many to number or they just dont care enough to number them

All Glarry's had S/N's on the boxes. ALL OF THEM.

Yea they do now......I'm saying IF I REMEMBER RIGHT WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED Making guitars they didn't have serial numbers...at least not like what's being talked about here...back in the day fender used to pencil production numbers in tge neck pocket end of the neck ,they can't be used as a traditional serial number identifying the guitar

The way the question is stated is DO GUITARS WITHOUT SERIAL NUMBERS MEAN THEIR FAKE.....NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT BOXES..who keeps a box when they sell their guitar? And NO ABSOLUTELY NOT GLARRY GUITARS NOR BASSES ARE SERIAL NUMBERED ...AS THE QUESTION STATES..GUITARS NOT BOXES

I got on the Glarry band wagon in the beginning. Helped start the Glarry Club. Got 2 free to help promote them.
That's when they first started appearing and being discussed here at TB. ALWAYS HAD S/N ON BOX.

Fender did number their guitars, but the location moved from time to time. Also, in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s many left the factory with no markings at all on the neck or body, only on the stamped neck plate.
