do I really need more than one dirt pedal?

If you're happy with what you've got, then stick with it.
But unless you've tried the rest, you don't know what you're missing...
Be warned though - there is a beast out there that gets hungrier the more you feed it.

I have a fuzz and an OD. Boss ODB-3 and an El Grande. Swtiching out at the very least the El Grande. I'm GASing hard for a Swollen pickle. Might switch out the boss if I find something better. Personally, I use the ODB-3 with the gain maxed and the blend at clean. Just a little bit of dirt bleeds through, Sounds good with a pick on my Jazz.
Needing and wanting are 2 different issues. After "needing" a ******** of filters, I finally settled one of the 2 I really wanted. I'm sorta going through the same process with dirt, but with a little difference... I'm not buying everything in sight 
. My 2 cents on the issue: I use a small board and dirt is not something I use often, so the one I'll settle for will have to cover it all (for me).

I've found out after trying a bunch of pedals that I like to have a mid-high gain overdrive and a fuzz to change between different flavours of dirt, but there was a time when I was happy with just a Sparkle Drive...damn you TB!!!! 
An entirely subjective and personal question. Do whatever works for the music and for you. Keep in mind stomp boxes are expensive and that for the price of 5 pedals you can have a pretty hot bass.
