Do J/J separate outputs hum?

Hi, I'm planning a new bass with J/J or P/J pickups and I don't understand how hum will be on that.

On a traditional Jazz Bass there is no hum with the two pickups on, but what happens if you send them to different outputs?

I don't know if it's an electronic thing or just the mix of the two sounds what cancels the hum.

The mix of the two cancels the hum. Individual J outputs will hum (unless they are the hum-cancelling type)

Single Coils will Hum unless you have two which are humbucking. Standard P's are Humbucking. So basically a P/J will do this: P Only = No Hum / J Only = Hum / P + J = Hum. Atleast I think that's right.

On the note of sending each Pickup to it's own output on a Jazz, it'll hum.

What do you mean by seperate outputs?

Buy some Dimarzio P and J. No hum.
