Do matte pickguard chip?

I’ll hopefully be getting myself a Fender American Performer Mustang Bass for Christmas this year. The plan is to get a matte black pickguard to slap on it once I’ve gotten it. But I play mostly with a pick(I know, it’s a sin and I’ll probably get coal in my stocking for it lol) so I’m worried the paint will chip. I get that it’s a pickguard so it’s not supposed to but when it comes to bass, I feel like a pickguard is just a fashion statement. Most Basses don’t even have one lmao. The particulars brand I’m looking into is WDMusic. They have the exact one I need. Also if you aren’t familiar, here’s what the bass I plan to get it for, looks like. The color is also satin, if you couldn’t tell from the pic.

Anyways,
My main question is, will the paint chip or leave noticeable marks from the use of a pick?

Why? :)

If you play correctly, the pick touches only the strings. So the answer is no. Nevertheless, you should perhaps take a look at these recent threads ;)

OK, this might be a stupid question but I’ve always been overly curious.

You're concerned about chipping the pickguard? I would think it will take way more to chip a guard than even the heaviest handed pick use.
