A great feature of this board is the 'Ignore' function

I virtually ignore people I have not interest in seeing their opinions.
Yes, sure, There are "Some very nice people on both sides", but some of those side discussions don't have much to do about the topic and are spent on the ad hominem.
It sure keeps me from endless content-less escalation of nonsense from piccolo players
Hopefully this also keeps the moderators less busy so they can focus on the enjoyable parts of TB.
Maybe a future feature could be Moderators could permanently set "ignores" list for those who don't set their own

TB without KBD is at best half as interesting. He taught me how to pronounce my favorite takeout meal correctly and I'm going to spend the rest of my life better off for it.

I don't think I'll post my PM. KbD and I aren't on the friendliest of terms ever since he tried to get me banned at another board and ended up permabanned himself for his efforts.

Ignore function doesn't work for me. It just makes me all the more curious about what the person I'm ignoring said. Tried it and failed miserably.
I wish they had an ignore feature that completely ignored people, without any notification of ignored content. I'd zap a few people here in a heartbeat. I have absolutely no use for their input. Perhaps I'll suggest that!

I don't even notice people who would irritate me. Probably because nobody here irritates me. It's the internet fer chrissakes, and a bunch of pixels isn't much of an irritant. That said, there are people here who may just be pixels in my world, but who I have come to genuinely like and care about. It's part of being the pathological optimist who thinks everyone and everything is wonderful, I guess.
Personally I don't mind the irritant. It usually helps me to re-examine what I think I think and if I find my thoughts have changed, then I know more about me, don't I
I really should let this go but, I have never understood why people think as highly about KbD as they do. He strikes me as being a bit of a sad sack.
He's a serial ballbuster for certain, but I rarely ever had a topic where he didn't chime in with something earnestly helpful. That's what I dig about him- for all the personality clashes and inappropriately-timed grammar corrections, he really does try to help people, and frequently succeeds.
He was a solid contributor and whenever his input wasn't helpful, he at least put on a good show. What's music without a little dissonance, no?

To me, it's impossible to mechanically ignore something if you can't ignore it mentally. Can't say I've ever tried the ignore function here.
I started reading this thread then realized how old i, I mean it was. I used to post regularly years ago but got into recording and got on a few forums and stopped posting as much. I still check in a few times a week and throw a post up every now and then.
