Do Strings Die When Put On?

Weird question but... do you guys find that strings start to die when they're put on a guitar, but not played? I have a couple guitars to set up for a band before they come track at my studio, so would it be advisable to set them up/restring a day or two before the session as opposed to a week or so before (now)? New strings are necessary for the type of music, but it's hard to resist setting up two pretty guitars sitting in my studio. drool On the other hand I would like to have time to address any problems that arise during set up...

Not really. I've strung up guitars and let them sit for months (in a case) and they've remained quite fresh.

They start to. String death is a process that starts when you string the bass. They're in stasis till then.

You will be fine restringing them now.
