Yes! Tom and I have been bouncing around a plan for an octave pedal that is basically just like the Octron 2 but without the master bypass switch - in effect, a T65 with more footswitches.

Two (or three) EHX Pitch Forks could do it, sound good and still be fairly small and cost competitive.

I think you'd need something like the Boss LS-2 to make that work. IME you usually can't run pitch shifters in series. You'd think it would work but something about the altered signal seems to flub them up. I haven't tried the PF specifically but I've tried the Bass Whammy w/ a few others with no luck.

The problem (for me at least) is that I greatly prefer "analog" octavers for the down octave and digital for the up octave.

Digital down octaves sound too synthetic and lack the fat, growly tone I love and analog up octave sounds are done via clipping and lack volume.

I don't believe there is a pedal that combines an analog octaver with a digital up octave though.

Your best bet may be something like the TC Sub 'N Up that does a digital octave up and a digital recreation of an "analog" octave down sound.

Just as a note - I put analog in quotes only because the traditional octave sound using a flip-flop circuit isn't really analog as far as I understand it.

True. I use an LS2 to get the right mix, but I use the Whammy for other purposes as well, so it's worth having for me, YMMV.

For stuff like that I use my Boss sy300. Obviously it’s all digital but you can program a octave up and a down that is foot switchable. Add a little overdrive and done. I am really finding uses for it beyond just synth and organ sounds. It’s replaced a lot of my modulation effects. Plus you can blend original signal as well.

- octave up and down in one pedal
- 2 switches: 1 controls upper octave on/off, 1 controls lower octave on/off so you can change on the fly with your feet without having to bend over and tweak knobs. so switches work to give you 4 combinations: up, down, both, neither
- maybe levels, but no other junk, keep the pedal small

I found a couple things that are close but not quite. T-rex makes this thing but as you can see, it's trying to do different hi/lo combinations on each channel, and the switches are A/B and on/off. Nope.View attachment 3144991

I can't be the only player who sometimes wants an octave up, sometimes down, very rarely both, usually neither, and wants it in 1 convenient compact pedal...

Just get the best pedal you can afford and ignore the octave up.

it's not super small, like 5"x5", but the Octron 2 has separate footswitches AND levels for up, down, AND dry, plus a 4th switch to bypass the whole pedal if you want.

Cool thanks, I was not aware of that one. A bit bulky, but in the ballpark.

How is the octave up? On every octave pedal I've heard the octave up has an annoying tin/treble to it that I could never get over.

I've tried 1 Unibass, 1 micro POG, and 2 Pitchforks. All need additional tone help (a little dirt, better yet a little chorus and sustain) but the Pitchforks are the best. Unibass is good but tracking sucks.

Contact JHS or another builder directly about modding and existing pedal or creating this for you. Shouldn't be too difficult.

JHS will only do the one mod they advertise on their website with 5 dials and 3 switches

I've been using 2 Pitchforks in parallel circuits. Good tone, pretty compact, but 2 units and each has extra whistles/bells I don't need. thanks all

There are smaller builders willing to take on mods outside of the purview of larger builders/mod-houses such as JHS, Analogman etc.

I'd get in contact with Mike Putnam or Wounded Paw. Do some sleuthing and see who's local to you.

Buy two Mooer Tenders and have them rehoused (with a splitter/mixer circuit so they run parallel) with only the controls you require on the face of the pedal.
