I'm a bass player, but because I'm female, I suddenly must have a million shoes/handbags/dresses/etc and never GAS for nice basses, right? Most bass players would spend money on bass-related things, correct? Why does it make a difference if the bass player is male or female? I'm not trying to rant here; I'm just a little surprised that this question was even asked.
Immo, I understand that this is from your own experience, and I'm not attacking you or anything. It's just that a lot of guys see women that fulfill a popular stereotype, and then assume that all women are that way (this goes for race and religion, as well).
That's interesting matter, because probably all Polish female bass players (amateur and semi-pro) I know are not GAS-ing. And I know a whole lot of them. Maybe it's because the different mentality or something like that.
They'd sometimes admire a new bass their friend would buy, but they won't buy a new one just because 'it's P-bass and I don't have one'. Some even asked me why I have 'so many' instruments (while recent thread here shown quite a lot users have more than 5 basses!) and they don't understand it. So I'm not making an assumption - it's pure statistic matter for me. But if you are GASing as well - that's cool, that's what I'd expect from every musician!
) - I thought about the aspects of life connected in general with making the life more... I don't know, pleasant and beautiful, bot when it comes to be a pro, they usually stick to the one, good thing that allows them to do the job. USUALLY. Men, on the other hand, USUALLY don't want to make things cute, but if they're to do something pro, they like the whole arsenal of tools. So you can understand, that this analogy could be understood as even more sexist towards MEN in fact
