I used to do it back years ago when I was slamming coffee all day long at the office.
Think of it this way; it's a great way to combat the hygiene hypothesis. Whatever crawls into your coffee cup that doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

Just went into our mens room and a guy followed behind me with a cup of coffee in his hand. He set it down on the sink and took care of his business.
Our men's room is somewhat buys so it always has stench of processed food. We have three stalls and two standing room only.
I wouldn't bring coffee or any food into the bathroom. The whole thing grosses me out. I imagine that stench seeping into my food and ruining it. :spit:
I know it is probabably irrational thinking on my part but it is how I feel.

Think the bathroom is the germiest place at work? Think again.

The worst offenders needing disinfecting:

91% of break room sink faucet handles
80% of microwave door handles
69% of keyboards
69% of refrigerator door handles
53% of water fountain buttons
51% of all computer mice
51% of all desk phones
48% of all coffee pots and dispensers
43% of vending machine buttons

Bathrooms generally don't even make the list of workplace germ problem areas.

The average persons office desktop has about 100x the e. coli level of the average bathroom toilet seat.

Don't drink coffee, so no, never took coffee in the loo, or any other food or drink unless it was to put it in the trash can.

As far back as I can remember, I've always heard you don't sh!te where you eat. I always just took it on faith there was a valid reason to avoid eating in the WC.

That's about the same amount of disgusting as eating one right out of the drive-through.

YUK

Mellowinman, don't be acting like you never ate anything off the ground. I can tell just to look at you that you're a "five second rule" type o guy.

For those of you turning your nose up at the idea I ate the Big Mac -- shame on you for shaming a starving man. Such gross insensitivity.

And YES, the Big Mac was sitting in an open container. Eating the burger off the porcelain would have been disgusting.

For the curious, the burger did have a faint taste of aroma du toilet, but as the PDX airport cleaning crew is pretty diligent, the dominant taste was that of pine. Not bad, actually.

My gf will eat food found in the street if it was inside a container. Like when people take either take out or the rest of their meal home? I don't know why they so often just leave them on bencehs and such but they do around here. Personally I find it absolutely disgusting. Well, if the food hasn't been touched ok but how long as it been sitting there? And when it's taking the rest of their food home...you know their fork has been in there....

I did try it once though with a roasted chicken sandwich someone had left in a container in front of my front door. I knew it hadnt been out long since id been out just a bit earlier and it wasnt there then. I removed the part they had taken a bite off it. I didn't get sick..........but I understood why they left it. It wasn't a good sandwich. I'd have been pissed to pay for that.

I have to say though, I HAVE dumpster dived before but I always make sure the food didn't seem to have been contaminated by anything. Like there's this bakery near that will through its bread and pastries in the garbage every night. and their dumspter is easily accessible, ive went through there before. Generally they throw them all out in those gigantic empty flour bags. so all it's bound to have touched is flour... though once I was happily digging through a bag of pastries id brought back home and then I noticed some ******* had thrown their cigarette butts in there........way to ruin perfectly good pastries! I iddnt eat any of them..even when they hadn't been touched by them, the whole of it had a stench of cigarette ashes.

I would not have let a few ashes deter me from enjoying the pastry. And were I to find a whole tray of lightly-ashed pastries, I would bring them to Mellowinman's band rehearsal in heartfelt offering.

Depends on which bathroom we're talking about, and what activity you have in mind in said bathroom. Bringing and eating food in a public restroom or the restroom at work - no way. A coffee or beer while soaking in my own bathtub - love it.
i got used to never ever ever ever leaving ones beer unattended ...... so a necessary trip to the head with a coffee in your hand won't hurt nothin'.....i always keep mine with the lid on to keep it hot longer anyhow....

What I need to do at 03:00 to get ready for work in under 20 minutes is far from pretty. At the end of it I'm dressed in clothes and hopped up on coffee. Where and how I drink it is a complete mystery and yes, I drink carefully in there you don't want to burn anything important.
Why, am I under surveillance? :(
