Do you have a "destiny bass"

Kind of.
My longest-owned bass is a combination of a neck that was given to me in 1988, and a body that was given to me by someone else about five years later. They just happened to match, both natural maple/yellowed with age.
The parts just found me, if not the "bass" itself.

My only keeper is Cort Artisan SP4 Custom

There's the 5er version (really costy as well) in a shop near here, while this 4er I got can't sport no Hipshot bass extender

It doesn't matter
It's a full step dowtuned but has no flaws whatsoever in it.

Nobody, none never understand me whenever I tell that this is the only one I play without desirin' anything else

I dunno why
It was there in my favorite shop, stayin' for awhile (too pricey to be a Cort so that other models went out earlier)

I sacrificed an Ibanez Sr1200e Premium and Ibanez Sr4500e Prestige an Ibanez SrXxv Premium in the process (trade after trade) to finally get this Indo masterpiece

I still have 20+ other basses
but it's sure my destiny bass

For me it was my 1980 G&L L-1000. Mahogany body, ebony FB. I wasn't even looking for a bass-just found it hanging somewhere used for $350. It felt perfect. Loved it so much my Ken Smith ended up in a closet for years before it got sold to spare it further neglect.

When it was stolen in 2005 I cried for months.

My Distillate. I've been a fan of Alembic since about 1992..and was unaware of that model. I always looked at their larger bodies, wishing they didn't have the point(or "omega" cutout). Always looked at the small standards(like S. Clarke's), wishing it was just a bit bigger. Then...about 16 years ago..somebody let me play their Distillate 4 stringer. It was like I had designed it. I knew that same bass would one day be mine.

Isn't that just beautiful?

My "destiny" bass was a 3 TS Fender Precision. All my heroes played a Pbass and I managed to buy a new one when I was 19 with the money I earned in my first pro band.

It's stored under the bed these days as I only play 5 string basses. I did feel like I'd come home when I bought my 3 TS Lull PJ5 two years ago.
