I'm looking for a good web host to host a web site for my band. We're already on MySpace but that just screams "amateur". So if your band has a website that isn't on MySpace, where is it hosted? I'd love to see the websites too to see what kind of features they have.

    I'm a web developer/designer and I host with http://www.bluehost.com/

If you sign up for a year you get a domain free (its only 15 bucks but still) and I think its like $6.50 a month for the hosting.

There is so much space and upload/download I really don't know what to do with it all....since I started with them 2 years ago they have gradually added more and more bandwidth.

You can also park unlimited domains.

    The customer service is great.

It's has full PHP support and I think they give you 20 databases (which can be used for running all sorts of plug ins).

    From their site:

  7. I second Hostmonster. You can reach their customer support by phone 24 hours/day and don't have to wait on hold for ever.

i've been using hostgator for years without a single problem. $5/month for a single domain, $8/month for unlimited. I have 5 or 6 sites I host all through the same $8 account.

  9. I host a few domains here with no complaints

  11. This should be stickied in the band management forum. There's a lot of up and coming bands that will need this information, mine included.

  12. I've used Yahoo! for several years. They have a pretty good (and simple) web design tool. Plus, if you know any HTML you can add it. I built mine (I used a considerable amount of code) with it. Check it out in my signature.

    Good Luck!

    I use A Small Orange. http://www.asmallorange.com

Very reasonable prices, no BS. I have my personal site with them and also my Dad's business site. :)

I used to use GoDaddy but it was a pain. Their site is so hard to navigate and had so many different passwords to remember. :eyebrow: Also they kept sending me mails with "offers" and other crap. Several times a day.

    EDIT:

Actually I just found I can make a coupon code for people to get discounts because of referals.

So if you want to sign up to A Small Orange use the discount code talkbass when you're doing your order. It'll give you 15% off! :D

I utilize the "free" webspace provided with my ISP to host our website. Then I bought a domain from mydomain.com for $10 a year and utilized the "phantom" pointing feature. When you type in the domain (ie: www.bandname.com) it just points to your ISP webspace but keeps the domain name in the address bar. cheap and effective.

    check it:

great service, zero downtime and priced right !! :hyper:

I set up a www.garageband.com account for our band before we decided to avoid all forms of online promotion. Its really a slick site, and they have lots of tools to help you promote your music and merch. It also simultaneously sets up an ILike page, which is great for advertising your local gigs. Its a great, free way that's tailor-made for musicians. Just read the fine print and you'll do well by them.

  17. I use bluehost too.

I second the BlueHost.com recommendation if you have some web savvy. If you are a novice try bandzoogle.com.
