Here's my current white bass in action this weekend.

I prefer the look of the woodgrain on a bass--but I have no problem with a white bass.
In fact colour is way down the list for me.
All other things equal if you gave me two basses to choose from & the only difference was the colour--I might choose what, I might not.

View attachment 3662271 i gave my chinese white fender squire precision bass to my friend paul after my gig last night. i’ve known paul since junior high school. he is an amazing guy and i was glad to give him my bass. paul is a guitar player and builds the most amazing speaker cabinets and combo guitar amps. i bought a beautiful dove-tailed ash 15” cab from him that i use for my upright bass gigs. paul has a condition that slowly robbed his hearing to the point that he is now totally deaf. i have to type out my side of the conversation on my phone like i’m doing now (i just learned to use the voice to text feature!) it’s really frustrating for him because he can’t play guitar and enjoy it anymore because he can’t hear those frequencies. he can ‘feel’ my bass when comes to gigs and said he was going to look at buying a bass. i told him since i’m getting a new scroll top fretted bass, i don’t need two of them, and i wanted him to have my fender. he was blown away. on the drive home after the gig it just felt right and made me feel that i made the right decision. so, i’m no longer able to post on the ‘white bass’ forum thread anymore, cuz now i don’t have one. sorry to ramble on...you all have a good day today. thanks for listening...cheers, bobo

I have a real soft spot for white basses despite not currently owning one. I'm enjoying ogling the lovely ones posted upthread. :)

My 1975 Musicmaster with tape on it for the kids. I kept it till they were mostly grown and then sold it.

My former American Special that I found to be a surprisingly good example of a P. I sold it along with a 1980s white SG to a friend who really had a jones for them ...because they were both White in Brown cases. Aesthetics: yes it's a real driver for most of us. Made him very happy.

I had a 1962 Jazz that had been refin'd Oly White at some point in it's life. I sold it too. I have photos of it in a drawer at home where I'm not.
