Do You Like Sneakers?

I live in my sneakers- a pair usually last me about a year of daily use. I have these:

And I quite like them. They're fairly cheap, comfortable, and pretty durable. My favorite shoe for a long time was a hemp Vox Trooper, but IIRC they stopped making them. Those were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, but really any low-top skate shoe will do just fine for me. I actually had the lo-top version of the Emerica Reynolds, but they didn't last very long for me before they came apart.

I only like them if they're needed for a run or something like that.....otherwise I'm almost always in boots. And occasionally heels.

Not insulting anyone who collects, but for me I don't care about any type of footwear enough to collect it (I define collecting as 10+ pairs) and I never spend more than $60 on them even if there are some that I really like. For me I can't see paying $100 or more for something that I'll literally be dragging through the dirt.

I am partial to Converse. I have a variety of colors in both high and low tops. I love the retro look.

Vans are the most uncomfortable shoe ever created along with converse. I bought a pair 3 months ago to skate but had to put nike insoles. I don't get why everyone copies this design and they don't last long either. They need to bring back the original Rowleys if they want to get my business.

I guess I qualify as an "older gent" (57); been waring sneakers all my life, but wouldn't consider myself a "collector".
Started with Keds and PF Flyers. Then it was Cons, lows and highs. I remember when Adida Superstars and the blue suede Puma Clydes came out. Converse also had a blue suede sneaker at that time; turned all my socks, and my feet blue.
These days, light runs/power walks I go for my New Balance runners. General, tennis type, everyday sneakers are also NB's. For a several hour hike on a rocky single track, I put on my Merrell low cuts. And if I'm on a ladder all day for work, it's my Red Wing work boots. I have all black sneakers for gigs when required.

I definitely dig some old school style sneakers. Most of mine are from only two brands. I focus mostly on Puma and Converse. There's some Adidas thrown in there, too. But Adidas shoes tend to run a little narrow so I don't get so many of those.

With Pumas I mostly go with the Suedes. I've probably got close to a dozen pairs of Suedes along with some other assorted Pumas. Those are pretty comfortable and I wear them a lot.

My Converse's are entirely Chuck Taylors. I like the high tops, but I find the low tops more comfortable. I've managed to get some pretty cool pairs in a variety of colors. But I've been leaning much more towards to Converse John Varvatos shoes. Regular Chucks are great, but they can get really beat up. And they're terrible in any kind of weather. Too many times when I've worn canvas Chucks in weather I have wound up with wet or cold feet. I started going a little more high end with my Chucks when I got a pair in leather, and that was a revelation. All of a sudden I could wear Chuck Taylors in the winter without freezing! But when I got my first pair of Converse John Varvatos All Stars? WOW. They're put together so much better than any standard Chucks I've ever had. They'll keep your feet reasonably warm. And they're super comfortable. Much more so than any regular Converse All Stars.

I may have to post some pics. Especially since my wife busts my chops so much about how many pairs of sneakers I have.

One of my favorite skate shoes right there. Not the best material for withstanding a lot of flip tricks, but nothing a tube or two of shoe goo couldn't fix. Honorable mention to the original Vans TNT's.

I still got a pair of tnt's 2. I wish they stopped with the old skool stuff because the only thing they got going is the outsole. Everything else is just ugly and uncomfortable.
IMO, this is the best skate shoe right now.

I grew up wearing only either cowboy boots or steel toe boots. When I joined crossfit last year, I bought a pair of Reebok crossfits and for the first time, LOVED them. I am trying to mature my style more though and look more professional so I have been traiding the crossfits in for some laceless pointy grown man shoes.

Like the style and yes, Reebok cross fit shoes are pretty nice!

I Actually just bought a pair of these old school Nike's after seeing Wesley Snipes wear them in, "White Men Can't Jump."
And Will Smith wear I think an orange and green pair in The Fresh Prince!
