Do You Like Tacos?

I just had some from "Taco Truck" like the ones in the quoted post.
My wife and I always joke that you are more likely to get sick from Taco Bell or even some of the upper crust restaurants than you are from "Taco Truck" (Technically it's on a trailer). Becuase of the (erroneous) reputation of taco stands; they are held to a higher standard by the health department.
Whether or not that is the reality we don't know but it seems legit and it tastes damn good. The kitchen seems really clean as well. The owners (actual Mexicans complete with accent) are super nice too. They even let us sample the beef tongue. I didn't like it though. It felt like I was making out with a cow.

So no brains eh LilRay ??I know intestines sound awful, but they are really good. You have to cook em just right and lots of salt.
Ever try nopalitos (cactus) and huevos (egg) ? Really good.

Intestines? I don't want to knowingly eat anything that is in the tract of something else's eating run, especially the "Waste" end
Speaking of Brains & Eggs that's infact the reason I don't eat brains. Story goes My Uncle who's 76 now loves Salmon and Eggs. Right after he'd married his wife they moved in briefly with his father in law. One morning unbenounced to my Uncle his father in law had cooked some Hogs Brains and Eggs for breakfast. The Father in law left and while he was out my uncle woke up and ate the stuff cooked in the pan on the stove(thinking it was salmon). When his father in law returned he asked my uncle "Who ate my hogs Brains &Eggs?" at which point my uncle got "as sick as he'd ever been" according to him.
He refuses to eat eggs to this day some 55 years later.

Hell for that matter the majority of Hamburgers, Pizza , Chicken, Chinese Food, etc is "Mexican Food".

I could see that being shocking enough to make him lose his breakfast.
One thing: there isn't one single taco bell restaurant in México... that should say something about their quality... I know about good tacos, in general Mexican food is waaaay bigger than just tacos... Plus BURRITOS ARE NOT MEXICAN... They are from Texas.

You're too hung up on it being Mexican or not. I don't care that much if it's Mexican (though Acapulco is, I would say, as is Romero & Sons), my primary concern is that it's good food. Do I care that the pizza place is run by guys of Middle Eastern descent, not Italians? No, I only care that the pizza they serve is decent. Do I care that the local hot dog place is run by Vietnamese people? No, I just want a hot dog. When I think "tacos" and "burritos" I don't think "Mexican" first, my initial thought is "food." They're as normal to me as a burger.

I'm from Texas...I know what real Mexican food tastes like
I love tacos. You may think that's perfectly normal, because tacos rule! Just ask President of the United States George Bush. (My name is George W. Bush, and I approve this message. Tacos rule!) If you aren't all that partial to tacos, you may attribute it to my Texas heritage. But my first taco was at a restaurant in Quincy, Illinois when I was ten years old, in 1974. It was, of all places, an A&W Drive-In. We were eating lunch out, likely after church on Sunday, and we kids liked to go to the drive-in, it was a novel experience since our return from living overseas. I saw tacos on the menu and I asked my Mom what they were. She described them (perhaps from the picture on the menu) and said that they were good, so I ordered them. We pronounced them "tack-o's". I remember that they came with little packets of taco sauce that was other-worldly in its exoticness to a ten-year old midwesterner. I was hooked.
A year later we moved to Dallas, and the local taco purveyor was Taco Bueno. They don't have any Taco Buenos in Houston, but I am writing this from Longview, Texas with several bueno tacos in my belly. When we moved to Houston, the local taqueria was Del Taco. When I went to college in Austin I discovered one of my guilty pleasures, Taco Bell. My UT roommate Scott Francis from Austin High had a friend named Wade (I'm ashamed I can't remember his last name) who was a Taco Bell fiend, and he showed me how to put as many packets of taco sauce on the tacos as possible. The sauce came in little tubs like Whataburger ketchup still comes in. I remember if you had $5 you could go out and drink beer all night and still have enough change to "munch out" at the Taco Bell at 2 AM. I lived down the street from one my junior year, and they knew me by name.
I've become somewhat of a Mexican food snob, I usually won't eat Mexican food in a state that doesn't border Mexico. I like Tex-Mex, but I spent a month in Villa Hermosa and Monterey and I know what authentic Mexican food is like. But I have an addiction to the cheap-o Americanized fast-food crispy beef tacos, like Taco Tico, Taco Time, Taco Johns, Taco Cabana, even Dairy Queen and Jack-in-the-Box tacos, especially if they have packets of taco sauce. I think it's all because of that first A&W taco thirty two years ago.
We have a huge Mexican expat community in my area, so it's easy to find a good taqueria. I loves me a plate of tacos de lengua!
Funny... I live in Mexico and I can go outside & walk 2 blocks to get real mexican tacos whenever I want to... Yeah, mexicans tacos rule... Used to live in Tennessee, then I moved here to Mexico city, and the first time I tried real tacos I fell in love...
Btw, here in Mexico City there's a stall or a restaurant that sells tacos every 2 blocks.
