Do You Like Tacos?

I made some "authentic" mexican tacos tonight. I marinated pork shoulder in a marinade of Chipolte peppers and 5 TBSP Adobo sauce, red wine vinegar, tumeric and garlic. Fried Onions and Pineapple in olive oil and corn tortillas. It was spicy and sweet with the adobo sauce and pinapple. Verrrrrry good.

Oh great, now an argument about what is and isn't Mexican food and all the false condescending pretensions of sophistication and culture. My main criteria for evaluating a restaurant: Did the food taste good to me? Yes? Good restaurant.

So, argument that JITB tacos are not real tacos is ok, but argument that acapulco tacos are not real Tacos is false. Alright then... I love Chinese food! McDonald's is the best place to get Chinese food! Point is, bringing up JITB, Taco Bell and Acapulco in a thread about tacos is irrelevant because neither are Mexican cuisine and there for whatever they serve, are NOT tacos.

And no, acapulco taste like $@#! - it's disrespectful to consider Taco Bell, Acapulco and JITM as Mexican anything.

Texas Tacos Rule (But I ain't eating brains, tripe, tongue etc) Strictly known cuts of Beef for me. I had a guy that worked with my Pop bring me tacos with "raw" ground beef. I like to have died.

You fellas haven't lived until you've eaten Georgia Tacos though. Having grown up in Texas, it's like another world(Food Wise).

God Bless, Ray

Wait, what? JITB tacos? I think you're confusing me with someone else, because I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about.

The difference between Taco Bell and Acapulco is that the latter is good. The former is not. Of course, since it's food, it's all down to personal taste.

Still not Mexican food. :) Like i said, you don't see me going in here going "Tacos???? I love Chinese food!" Thats what people who say "TACOS??? I love jack in the box" or people who say "TACOS? I love Taco bell" or people who say "TACOS? I Love acapulco" are doing :D

Mmhmm, Cumin, cumin IS taco seasoning. I could make some tacos with fake meat that not even these carnivores would notice they'd been duped!

If you can make something without meat by using comino (cumin) and make it just like meat....I'd try that. Might be interesting.

So no brains eh LilRay ?? :D I know intestines sound awful, but they are really good. You have to cook em just right and lots of salt.
Ever try nopalitos (cactus) and huevos (egg) ? Really good.

Cheers, Dave
