Do you listen to unce music?

Some time when I was a teenager I was exploring the world of techno. After a while I noticed that there were a lot of songs that leaned hard into that unce sound. Many of them played that sound over and over. And over and over. Some unced the whole time.

At first I simply noticed it. But then it got kind of annoying. It got to a point that I started to see it as hacky and uncreative. And then it started getting really annoying.

My aversion to the unces became very strong, and over the years hasn't faded. A few years ago I bought an album by someone named Romy. It wasn't really for me, but I tried to give it a fair shake. On the third listen I noticed that a song I was listening to at the moment was uncing. I was in my car at the time, but when I got home I removed the entire album from my mp3 player and deleted it from my computer.

Nothing wrong with four on the floor, as long as the music has something else going for it as well. There's lots of good techno and house out there - and lots of boring, unimaginative techno and house as well.

That's true of all art and creative endeavors. Most of it is crap, but the good stuff is worth finding.

I like a lot of trance/electrodance music. The Anjunabeats label generally puts out some dope stuff. Spent a number of nights in my 20's on shrooms and Molly now QUITE a few year ago… and a lot of that music from the late 90's early 00's hasn't ever left my head… for better or worse.

For something slightly different MonsterCat has A LOT of artists… some killer… others, not so much lol.

I'm cool with the repetitive nature of that constant bass drum and side chained bass lines.

Oh, you mean "oontz" music (oontz-oontz-oontz-oontz) which some people used to call Eurobeat. Or "boots and cats" music (because meme onomatopoeia for that beat).

When I saw "unce" I thought you meant "uncle" music as in "older generation" music and heck yeah I listen to that AND I listen to newer music as well.

Had to look up the term. Seems to refer to computer generated imitation of backbeat dance music.

I'll be the albatross in the room. That "genre" seems to me to be mainly a business play, preying on uneducated listeners; and maximizing profit for business types by eliminating musicians.

But, what do I know? Apparently less as time goes on.
