Maybe, but I don't like her tone (what I've heard of it anyway). Will Lee and Walter Becker on the other hand...
Right. And I've seen used Metros at even better prices. A few that I'm kicking myself for passing up.
I didn't. I thought I did. A few years ago I pulled funds from savings into checking, made the trip to the showroom with the intention of either leaving with something or putting in a deposit, tried everything there, and just was not feeling it. At all.
They were very, very nice to look at.
I would strongly recommend checking them out in person. A day trip saved me several thousand. You might find one that blows you away and I hope you do.

so go get it. You don't wanna grow old and think you wish you would have gotten a Sadowsky when you had the chance. Life is short, get the bass you want. When you are too old to justify having many basses you can always sell it and at least get your money back if not more. And then get a Squier just to bang around.

Bass does sound good. Do I need it? No. Unless you are giving it away in which case, SURE, send it my way!
Well I do have a Sadowsky metro (tried several before choosing the one I have now), but I got it mainly for the feeling of the neck and generally for how the instrument as a whole spoke to me. The active preamp and the signature Sadowsky tone is just the icing on the cake, so much so that I'm playing it with TI flats and using the neck pickup only for the majority of the time, mimicking a P bass.
A Fender won't ever be a Sadowsky and vice versa, it's just that most of the small differences are only apparent to the player, the listener won't "get it".
But anyway, of course you don't NEED a Sadowsky.

Sadowsky can keep his basses 'coz he don't bother answering simple emails about his instruments.

I snoozed on one in the classifieds last year. It was only like 1400 bucks or something. I probably would have been 17th in line though

I agree with others, she has this tone dialed in and there is no telling what she is using etc. I got my first Sadowsky NYC a month ago and I will agree with Newsted in that Sadowsky is a "Turbo Fender". Its a balanced instrument and can be very aggressive sounding as well. The Sadowsky preamp is great, many people use one inline for that very reason.

In the video the Fender sounds pretty good. It would. . . the bassist can play (and I guess can EQ an amp) and the sound has been mixed after the session.
About the Fender/Sadowsky comparison. For a few months last year I had a Fender ASJV and a Sadowsky Metro RV5 at the same time so I was able to compare them. The Fender sounded very good and had that Fender sound down to a T. I liked that.
When I was playing these basses neither the Fender nor the Sadowsky sounded like each other. While they both sounded good they definitely sounded different. I sold the Fender and kept the Sadowsky because the B sounded better and the overall sound had more "authority".

I have a Peavey, Indonesian Cirrus that honestly, sounds as good as my Modulus, Warrior, Mayones, CB, Surine, etc. basses but the Peavey is a mass produced, assembly line piece as opposed to hand crafted "works of art" that (most of) the others are. It's a solid bass but I like the others more
