Do you need amp covers?

I'm short on funds right now, and putting what I have left into getting an extension cab for my Marbass CMD 102P for larger gigs.

That beings said, since it's so damn hard for me to find a 151 at <= $350, I turned to eBay and found this:

I had never thought about getting a cover for my amp before. Would you guys say such a purchase would be a wise investment?

I actually have a cover from that company for my Schroeder 410BMF. They are very well made, although not heavily padded as others, which I tend to like. They slip on and off easily, and protect my cab from the bumps and scuffs, as well as from rain/snow at times.

I'm looking for a head cover now, too. Loaded in during a snowstorm a few weeks ago and had to wrap it in a plastic bag to keep the snow out. Covers are great to keep things nice, but they're a necessity if you gig and ever have to load in/out during any rain, wind, snow, etc.

This is SWEET information -- thanks! I care less about padding than protection from the NE weather.

Actually just sold a vintage Acoustic 370 head and 406 (2x15 cab) that were covered since I bought them back in early 1980's. Wouldn't have been able to keep them mint without them. Since then bought new stuff and ordered from the following company. Great service...good quality covers and they're made to order to fit what you need....check them out at:

Hope this helps!

I think the bigger the cab, the more it needs protection because you are more likely to leverage it against stuff or bang it around. I don't use covers on amps that I can easily pick up and place in my vehicle but the big cab doesn't go anywhere without the cover.

Definitely a good thing to have if you're gigging or moving around. I have a cover for my G III 4x10, and it still looks new. My heads are always in a rack, so the same applies.

I used to treaet my gear quite rough, then I started playing with a guitarist who was obsessive about his amps. He had a ten year old Boogie that looked brand new. Really helps resale value.
