Do you need amp covers?

I have covers for all my amps that I take outside the house, except a small one that fits in my gig bag. And I have a cover for 1 of the 4 cabs if mine.

I have covers for all my equipment. I always use padded (Tuki) covers on my cabs for extra protection - just my personal preference.

I think the Tuki covers are the best ive ever had..beautifully made, thick protective and worth spending the money to protect an already costly expense on cabs..you want the cabs to last..buy good covers not thin vinyl stuff either. Check out *Tuki Covers or sister company *Custom Amp Covers. You wont regret it. Mine shown below.

Wrap that rascal. I use covers all the time. Custom covers from Coveramp in Quebec are fantastic, and allow full customization. Note- Coveramp sells on ebay for more than ordering off their website. Great products, generally much better than OEM.

Nope no covers for me. Just something else for me to lose track of or have to find deads storage for. I'm good with some wear and tear on my cabs and should I need I have more duratex if I need to touch stuff up.

The rat fur on that amp is pretty tough. You could probably go two or three years of regular gigging before it started to show any signs wear. I've never bothered with cab covers. I'd probably buy one if I were gigging a 60's B15 that was in great shape. And I'd probably use it a few times, get tired of finding a place to stash it and leave it home for my dog to sleep on.

I have a nice cover for my cab but sliding it in and out of my truck bed has worn it pretty badly. Need to figure that into your choice.

BTW, nice necro thread, 9 years between posts! Probably not a record but still pretty good.

I absolutely need covers. Not necessarily to protect from dings and scratches - I’m pretty careful with my gear. But there’s a lot of rain and snow in my part of the world, so it would be foolhardy not to protect my investment.

Yep, just one rainy load in a year justifies a cover. Small price to pay for lots of protection.

Covers also protect your car and the walls and doors, etc. of your house. My guitarist's spouse made some for our PA cabs out of genuine Naugahyde for a few bucks but I have opted for "real" padded covers for all my cabs.

True enough. Personally, I opted for covers without padding, as it makes the cover easier to stash away in crowded rehearsal and gig spaces. They’re still plenty tough, very heavy nylon with polyester backing. They won’t protect against a direct hit with a sledgehammer, but are more than sufficient for everyday bumps and scrapes.
