Do you play in New Year's Eve?

3 gigs downtown tomorrow for me. 3-6, 6-10, 10-2. The afternoon is with a guy I've played with a bunch and another guy I've never met. The other two I have no idea who I'm playing with except for the drummer.

Hi,

I like working NYE if the pay is good, otherwise I stay home. Thankfully there's only been a few NYE gigs over the years that I've turned down.

This year we are back at Cars Land in Disney's California Adventure. Except for the load-in it's a fun gig. This year we have a stage and dance floor in front of Flo's Diner. Last year we were on the street corner in front of Ramone's Body Shop.

Made a killing over the years playing NYE. Don't fancy the aggravation anymore. This year a 5 pm show at a retirement home with the 4-man Chalmers Doane Trio and home to family.

Gave up doing NYE gigs a few years ago and glad I did.

I'm with you mongo. I did a few jazz trio and/or quartet gigs on NYE about 15 years ago at a Boston area hotel. Great pay, free food and drinks (as many as you liked as long as you could still nail Giant Steps at 1/4 = 260). Of course, the profits generally went back into a room for the night.
