Their recordings haven’t all aged well, but their self-titled debut, Morrison Hotel and LA Woman are all great. The debut was really something different at the time. The last two had them moving back to their roots in blues, which was a relief after the debacle of Soft Parade.
Too bad Morrison couldn’t keep from burning out. He died only two months after LA Woman was released and hearing “Riders On The Storm” over the radio was pretty eerie late at night while driving, which is where I first heard it.
Too bad they chose to carry on as a trio, because those two albums were really weak.
