The singer/BL and I goof around a little and that makes me smile. Our guitarist is a Rock Machine and some of his solos are super cool, and that makes me smile. Our drummer will sometimes go WAY outside on a fill and that makes me smile. We are conscientious, but we have a good time on stage. Our audience comments on it, which makes me smile at that, too.
I try but it was really hard to smile in that oldies band I used to be in when the BL led by public humiliation and threats. I miss working with the actual legit artists but I don’t miss the actual band at all.
Not sure what I do. But I think Corey Duplechin makes the best faces. Check him out playing with Tab Benoit. He's freaking C double O L.
More often than not...I'm not smiling. However, I do smile when I'm propping up our front man. He gets carried away sometimes and one of us has to go out there and make sure he gets "home" safe 
Sorry to hear. With the way the market is going, hopefully if you do another one, it goes better. But music is supposed to be fun. There’s nothing fun about walking on eggshells because your big giant Philly “Italian” drummer will humiliate you in a big way and bow up at you for making a little mistake or questioning his judgment about song tempos being too fast to sing well. And what’s worse is he’s only half Italian and the rest is Irish. One of the worst experiences ever.

I don’t think about it, and it never seems like I am smiling in photos, but I have had quite a few people comment on how I look like I am really enjoying myself when I am playing. Which is great! I’ll take it. Since I don’t think about it and rarely see a photo of myself smiling, but a lot of people think I am enjoying myself, I voted carrots.
In addition to just being happy to play, I try to look out into the audience, interact with the band, etc. That's when it's going well. When its not going well...
I call it "gig smile," which is the ability to keep smiling even when the gig is an absolute and utter train wreck. This is also an attitude that I carry through to my regular life.

I smile after I make an obvious mistake. I smile after I nail something cool and challenging. I smile when someone smiles at me. I smile when I get nervous. I smile when I'm trying to look cool on stage.
