Do you stop watching your team?

That makes no sense what so ever. I don't think any team "deserves to win all the time" and have at no point made that assertion. That alone is probably enough for someone to assume that the rest of this post is off track, but to show you that I don't quit on everything when it sucks... That's a very inaccurate statement. I can root (pull, whatever) for a team and not watch them...or are you saying that you lose your right to be a real fan when you miss a game because of a blackout?

Think harder.

It isn't a competition. It's not a game you can win or lose, it's a creative form of self expression, not a contest of athletic ability.

I'm not sure how you've gleaned this out of my ability to change a channel when a team goes south, but I'm close to applauding the absurdity.

I'm sure many of us have a pro or college football team (or both) that we support. Naturally, I'm a Broncos fan.

But if they loose about 5 games in a row....I loose interest and just stop watching - I pick another team that's winning and start watching them instead.

Do you guys do this? Or do you keeping watching your team(s) no matter what?

Dude your not a true fan. I would watch every eagles game even if they went 0-16.

old,but not that old.......charles ingalls aside,i find that sports are way overblown.......i used to care when i was younger,but the greed of the pro sports machinery,the colossal egos,the notion of trying to enjoy a game with the kids in a crowd of mean drunks....

the thing that really killed it is the way the games are played now.......not to win,but to not lose.......a lot of sports have devolved into a product that is just plain boring to watch

Not really your team, then, are they? If you just jump ship when times are bad, I don't think you're really a fan of that team, just a fan of winning teams.

What more is there to say? Simple equation:

Watch = Fan
Stop watching = No Fan

100% agree with this. A real fan will sit and watch their team endure a complete massacre, and support them all the while.

Bandwagon fans are hypocrites, which drives me crazy.

I'm a fan of: the Redskins, Mets, Carolina Hurricanes (who will always be the Whalers to me ), and the Kentucky Wildcats for college ... so I'm used to a roller coaster ride every season.

Since I no longer live in a market that I can see the Mets on a regular basis (really only when they play the Braves) ... I catch as much as I can ... whenever I can. As for the Hurricanes ... now that I'm in their market ... the games mostly get blacked out.

IF any team is doing poorly ... I'll watch as much of the game as I can ... and watch it off and on for the rest of the game.

BUT ... I'll never stop watching them all together ... that what it means to be a FAN!

The Bucs are my adopted team, as I want to root for the hometown franchise, but the moves the Glazers have made recently have neen a real turn-off:

- They care more about that damn soccer team than the Bucs.

- during the last five years or so, the Bucs haven't spent significant money on free agents [[see above].

- Gruden was a flawed coach, but I don't like how they did him in. What they have in his place is no improvement. That QB they drafted from Kansas isn't any a pro QB.

- I don't like how they did Derrick Brooks either.

I'm quite displeased, and am thinking about rooting for the Saints this year, or until the Glazers sell the team to a party that actually gives a rat's #$&.

Even though I'm a fan of them, I also take in part of making fun of them. Yes, the other Pittsburgh team, the Pirates. Setting (losing!) records since 1992!

If you think it's hard to be a Pirates fan, start being a Detroit Lions fan.

I'd count my affinity for me team the same. As I said, I still pull for them, I just can't watch them get their ass handed to them week in/week out. But, hey, if this trait separates me from some of the "logic" posted here, I'll take that as a compliment and move on.

Yes, it's entertaining... but it isn't just entertainment.

It's much more than that. It's part of your identity. Abandoning my teams when they're bad would be like abandoning that crazy aunt in a time of need. Sometimes they make you mad, but they're still family.
