Do you use a Combo amp when you Gig? If so, what is it?

I used to subscribe to the theory that a real gigging musician uses a separate head and cab. Lately I've been noticing here around Vegas that a lot of bass players use combo amps on their gigs. What's your story? And what type of venues, and with what other musicians, do you use this?

Mesa Walkabout Scout 15". Sometimes with a matching cab. Sometimes without.

At the moment in a church band with keys,singer and guitar.

Nothing wrong with it, but a separate head and cabs gives you more options and flexibility.

Ba112 v2, once in a while a Ba108 v1 if I have a real tiny stage and don't need much volume. But more often these days I use a separates rig because I am a tube snob and the bands I'm playing with are so much more relaxed and fun than my last band, which got to be so miserable that I plain didn't care.

I don't always use a combo, but when I do, I prefer a Mesa Walkabout Scout 112...stay thirsty my friends!

I rock a MarkBass 112 combo and pair with the matching 112 ext cab when needed. Super versatile setup, and really light - easily covers any situation for me. I'll gladly play the svt that the other bassist on the bill wheels in on a dolly though!

GK MB 210II in two venues that are around 150 people max rated by the local fire marshall. And one venue that is probably only rated 75 people. I play along with everything from acoustic to electric guitars, drums(electronic set & skins), of course vocals, monitors, PAs, etc... and all I use is my combo.

Sometime this year I will be adding a CX 210 extension cab to run it for a total of 500 watts at 4 ohms vs the 350 watts at 8 ohms the combo runs now without an extension cab.

Same here. When I used a combo, it was a Rumble 500. Worked great, even in a loud band. I was pleasantly surprised.

Got a super deal on a TC Electronic BG500 115, gigged it for a while, excellent combo, lots of features, sounded great, and got as loud as ya could want.
