Do you use a ramp on your main player?

I know some of us have ramps on our basses, is this your main bass because of that? Or is it because it's your main that it needs one? Maybe you have one just for kicks?

Never heard of it before. I don't understand what purpose this serves. How did this concept even come about?

I know I probably always needed one, but until they existed I struggled with sometimes digging into the strings too deep, especially in between the pickups. The ramp has solved this, and also allow me to move my right hand seamlessly from the back pickup to the neck pickup fluidly to get the variation I need in tone. Great concept for me at least

I don't have a problem digging in too deep when I play.So I don't need one.
And I've never used the pickup as a depth limiter.

Frankly,it makes your bass look like it has one massive pickup.

I agree, it's still a bit odd for me too looking at my ramps. Pedulla has some nice ramps with the same colour as the body, and some other builders do too though.

My basses don't have them, but I wish they did. Not so much to prevent me digging in too deeply, but to serve as a rebound/launch pad for my fingers. I've noticed when picking over the fingerboard that my fingers get back to "ready" position more quickly than when I pick over the body.

My #2 bass has one that I 3D printed for myself. My main player is a Dingwall that I would like a ramp on, but I don't have the time to take the measurements and model a ramp to accommodate the angled pickups
