Do your parents Come to your shows?

Nope. My parents think rock that isn't 50's or very early 60's is terrible. My last band did a couple originals and mostly 90's-00's covers. The one I play with now we do classic rock and 80's covers. They might entertain coming out for a couple songs now.

My parents have visited about three of my show since the start of time.

Last summer while on tour we played a festival in my hometown area, and a longtime childhood friend and my mother (at 82) showed up and suprised me.

Mom is on the left, my friend, also a bass player, is on the right. I'm also in the pic, in the far right corner on stage right by his thumb lol. This was really unexpected. Very cool. She didn't want to come backstage, because "that's where all the crazy parties are, I'm too old for that."

You can't make stuff like that up.

Wow, looks like I really struck a chord here. I feel lucky that my parents have always been supportive of playing music. When I was a kid, our house was the rehearsal space for the many different bands my brothers and I were in. Dad was a rocker, into the Doors, CCR, Iron Butterfly etc. Mom was more of a R&B, Motown kinda lady.
On kind of a sidebar, I was able to get my mom some backstage passes for Smoky Robinson recently who has always been her favorite, it's a good thing my dad's not the jealous type cause she was like a little school girl.

My parents have come of many gigs in my 20+ years of gigging and have always been very supportive. It probably helps that a lot of the bands I've played in have been close friends, so they've also had good relationships with the rest of the band, too. I feel very blessed in that regard. Actually, every regard concerning my parents.

Pretty sure my mother came to one of my very early shows, at least. Would find it strange to see her at one these days. Assuming I actually did live stuff. Currently more on the recording side of things, these days. Would be nice to get back into it some time, though.

My mom and dad had to suffer through my upstart bands in my youth practicing in their living room for years.
The last thing they wanted to do was endure more of the same surrounded by a bunch of snot nosed punks at show.
They did see me once or twice in later years before they passed on.

...I swear to God that's not me on bass, honest, no really...I'm telling the truth!
What was the question?

Best band pic ever. Surprised those shorts were legal back then.

Yep, mom and dad to my first when I was 23. Then 25 years later, my dad recently.

My parents visited Korea in 2006 while both my brother and I happened to be living and working there - they got to see my band at the time (which is still the busiest/most successful band I have been in) That was a great experience.

The other time my Dad came was in a band in Ontario, Canada that played at a Hippie/Jam Band weekend event...and he had more than 10 people approach him and tell him how much he looked like Jerry - think he may have added to a few 'trips' that day (and to be honest he does look kinda like Jerry...plus he has a cool/kind aura about him that surely added to it.)

Love the thread! I played my first gig ever back in September of '15 and I invited my mom (she lives in Tehachapi, the gig was in Hermosa Beach, 126 miles through California traffic (and California drivers). Needless to say, she missed it.

That Christmas, we got together and I told her about the gig, and as soon as I started talking about how our guitarist/vocalist had started getting regular acting gigs (Mistresses and 2 Broke Girls) and essentially dissolved the band, she wanted to know who he was. When I told her, she started complaining about how she didn't get to see my gig.

Devastating to a bassist's and a son's ego, to be blown off and have her regret it because of the guitarist...
