My cats come to me whenever i play in the living room but i think it's more because i'm in the living room and somehow that's exciting to them (it's kinda their room, i barely use my living room, its main use is as a library and to record music in, when i do watch tv, i do it in my bedroom, bed beats sofa to watch tv)
However i know my oldest likes when i play keyboard because she pretty much always comes to me when i do. Sometimes she'll lie near. When both my cats were little they were very interested in me playing bass but i think it was mainly because of the way my fingers moved.
They both absolutely LOVE when i change strings though, my oldest has a taste for metal (seriously she bites on metallic things, it's weird) and the youngest just like that it's something to play with. I kinda have to lock them out when i want to change strings otherwise i can't get anything done. They've been known to fish old strings out of the garbage too.

My dogs like to lay down between me and my amp, or between me and my friends who come over to jam. I think they prefer hanging in the music room listening to me/us play than hanging in the living room with the wife watching TV.
I have a turtle tank in my music room, too. She's a red eared slider, and spends most of her time underwater. Unless I'm playing, then she perches with her head out of the water - I swear she wants to hear the music better!

I would have bid then filed a dispute when you didnt send the cat witht he bass-cool looking kitty!
my cat loves the banjo, but hates the bass. She also knows that when she hears the Law & Order theme she'll have a full hour of uninterrupted lap time.

My drummers cat is deaf. But loves to lay in front of my cab, while i'm playing. It also goes bonkers when it sees my rackmount Korg tuner LED's going back and forth.My cat doesn't seem to care while I play, but love's to use my carpet covered speaker as a scratching post 
Thanks. Hartley is a pretty neat cat. It's funny you should mention that because I wrote something like "Unless you want a cat that terrorizes elderly members of his species and begs for popcorn, he's not included in the auction" in my listing.
My dog is a dachshund/terrier mix mutt. She HATES my bass rig. She is also terrified of thunder. So, I guess she associates the bass rig with thunder. That's not a brag, BTW. I really wish that she would stay around with me while I'm playing and not wig out.
She will tolerate me playing my ABG, though, as long as there's not amplification involved.
My cats have almost completely destroyed the fuzzy carpet covering on my little Fender RAD practice amp. But they only attack it when I'm not playing through it.

The cat I have now is used to my playing now, but I'm not sure how much he likes it. I got him used to it by making up songs that were about him. He'd stick around for that.

I'm listening to a bootleg of a show Robert Plant did with the Black Crowes and the husky decides to chill with me. She's fine until the first Crowes song comes on, when she decides to leave the room for that song. She came back when the Zeppelin songs start up again. She did the same thing when the B.B. King cover started...
A drummer that I used to jam with had a ton of kittens in his basement/ rehearsal space for a while. For some reason they flocked to me, my bass and my amp while we were playing. One little guy was into biting my strings while I plucked them (not enough room to stand due to a pool table, so I sat on my amp).
At home, our cats will keep me company while I'm strumming the acoustic. I don't play bass amplified in the house, so they don't know what noises that thing makes yet.
The dog just gets annoyed and stays downstairs.

My dog likes ska. He loves streetlight manifesto. But cant stand blackflag. When I put on ska he curls up in my lap and gives kisses. When I listen to black flag he runs in circles and bites me. He also likes to play bass and howl but refuses to play if its wireless. I think hes one of those tone freaks that can tell the difference between the cable and wireless...
My first band, back in high school, would practice in the drummer's garage. He had two large mutts. He had other smaller dogs. But I remember the big ones, because both would come lie on the floor in front of my amp and go to sleep any time the band practiced.

My dogs are much happier I switched from guitar to bass. I guess it's the frequency range that bothered them with the guitar. The thump of the bass does get to them if I turn it up, but they don't get the same pained look on their faces that they did with guitar.
My mutts love music.
Without fail, every time I pick up a bass at home, I end up with mutts on my lap while I practice.

My Weimaraner usually lays on the floor beside my chair when I'm playing bass. But sometimes she'll lay with her body right in front of my bass cab, but her head is outside of the front of the cab. I think she likes the bass vibrations coming out of the speakers. If I'm just laying on the floor listening to music, she lays beside me and likes when I gently "drum" on her side/back with the music. Sometimes she "sings" along (below).
Not really my pets but the birds outside my old apartment in Gainesville FL used to singalong to the Flaming Lips.
