DOD FX25 volume problems

ok, so I use the fx25 to get that nice mellow round sound sometimes (this is it's secret ability... a deep, dubby tone, forget about it as an envelope filter)

anyways, when i turn it on (with the sensitivity all the way down), I get the tone I want, but the volume is boosted quite a bit, due to the resonant filter boosting some of the bass frequencies

is there a fix for this to make it so i can match it's bypassed volume a bit better, or maybe to reduce the resonance a little bit?

Funny , I get a LOWER volume using my FX-25... do you have the modern version with the 3 pot's ? or the older green version with 2 pot's ? . Could you tell me how you set the controls ? Im looking to boost my volume .

it's the one with 2 pots. i set them both to zero.

+1. The usual problem with the FX-25B is that it cuts your volume quite a bit.

I'd fiddle with the trim pots a bit and see what that gets you. I never really had any volume problems with mine.

the problem is the amount of bass that it creates. it does cut a bit, but it creates so much bass that it ends up being much louder

I also use an older fx25 for the same dubby purpose. My solutions have been (a) use an fx loop with a "return" volume control, or (b) use a frequency-specific compressor. If you have a rack comp with a sidechain jack, you can put an EQ unit into the sidechain for freq-specific compression.

i popped mine open and couldn't identify anything that was recognizable as a trim pot....

Sorry dude... I had the same problem and that's why I always warn people on here about it.

When the filter is high - thin sound. When the filter goes low - overly loud mud garbage.

Yeah, essentially if you just want to use it at the "no sensitivity" Laswell setting, you could add a resistor or trimpot at the output to reduce the overall level. But if you eant to use it as an envelope filter, there's no mod to even out the levels at the different frequencies of the filter. Gotta use an external comp/limiter.

all i care about is the dub setting,... i hate the thing as an envelope filter (i use my bassballs for this... and of course it has the opposite volume problem)

True on both counts. I have only used mine in an fx loop with a return volume control, for that reason.
