DOD Gunslinger Mosfet distortion only 30$

12v-18v rules for it, haven't even bothered trying 9v though I want to do some comparisons for fun.

Have you guys tried any other DOD pedals at higher voltages such as the Boneshaker?

So I got the Gunlsinger, and it sounds great on guitar. I like it better than the Boneshaker I had, though, there seems to be some similarities to it in that it doesn't feel compressed fine grain distortion. Instead they have this grittiness to them.

I wasn’t super hooked on this pedal as a permanent dirt on my board, until I used it with other effects. I like it a lot with octave or chorus.

gunslinger into octave or chorus, or after them?

I like it with a Barbershop or TCE Spark into it. I don't like it as much as standalone dirt. The Boneshaker on the other hand is nice with the above light OD's into it, or as standalone specifically because of the EQ knobs. If you could get the Gunslinger's distortion sound with the Bonshaker's knob configuration I'd like the Gunslinger a lot better.

Can you guys compare either of these DOD pedals to the Hot Tubes Nano?

Overall, I've been pretty disappointed with the new line of DOD/Digitech pedals over the past few years, especially the reissues. I have bought several and have sold/traded each one. Wish I would have waited for these crazy sales to roll around instead of spending full price for them when they first came out.

Having said all that, I still may buy a Carcosa someday.

Your position seems rare...most folks have been digging the new offerings and in fact, DOD/Digitech has re-captured much of the market share they've lost since the boutique pedal boom.

I love older DOD pedals and own quite a few.

I bought the reissues of the 250 and 410 and neither of them sounded better than the older versions I already had but I did like the newer enclosures. I wish I could get the old pedal sound in the newer, smaller, more rugged enclosures.

I bought a Drop and didn't like it on bass because of the latency and volume drop, so I sold it.

I tried out a Phasor 201 and couldn't even tell if it was activated.

I also tried out Gunslinger and it sucked out all the low end on bass, but probably would sound good on guitar.

I borrowed a Boneshaker and was disappointed.

I just bought a used Carcosa the other day and it like it so far. I'll take it to next band practice and try it out.

I'll still continue to check out the newer DOD pedals but I'm not going to pay retail for them anymore. Plenty floating around on the used market.

That’s unfortunate about your experience with the gunslinger. I bought mine specifically because I thought it worked well with bass and guitar, and I’ve been piecing together a rig to do both; I find the low knob on the gunslinger versatile enough to retain my lows.

I guess it’s down to specific setups, but I find the gunslinger a lot better at 12v with an overdrive pushing it. It’s still good by itself, but it’s great stacked.

To be fair, my experience with the Gunslinger was about 10 minutes in a music shop with whatever bass and amp they had set-up to try stuff out. My first impression didn't inspire me to dig any deeper.

I swore off DOD back a handful of years ago when I got a DOD Stereo Phaser (FX20C). Not only not true bypass it leaked phasing even when off, slowly drove me insane.

I did grab a Boneshaker a while back when they initially went on super-sale, but it's still boxed and untouched. I like the idea of 3-band-semi, but I'm still having a good time with my Frazz Dazzler v2 and haven't had the itch to unbox it.
