The new Gonkulator has an adjustable carrier control (Freq) so it can now be used as a fer reals ring mod. With the parallel distortion circuit this update is two pedals in one. Lots of fun to be had!

I'm with you. Great fun pedals to have around but i have yet to find a use in the mix. Sitting at home getting all industrial - sure. Turning it on at a show is the best way I have found to get my singer/guitarist to pay attention.

I have the old Gonkulator, that poopie sucks and I love it!
It sounds wacky and robotic in a way that other ring modulators don't deliver. I agree that it's not easy to find a suitable tone to use in "proper" situations, but if you're looking for out-there sounds it's perfect.
The main downside is that the original sucked A LOT of tone even when turned off and that's why it's currently sitting outside of my pedalboard...

Oh, but they have to keep the original control names: SUCK, SMEAR, GUNK and HEAVE

Was he controlling the frequency with an expression pedal or was someone manipulating it off screen? When will this be available?
