Does a Zoom B1X w/ Expression Pedal work to plug into a mixer?

Hey everyone,
The band I'm in is recording our first album soon, and the lead guy just bought a Mackie ProFx12v3 for us. It looks like it requires line-level inputs, so from my understanding I need something that can simulate an amp, or a power amp. The Zoom B1X looks like a great combo for amp sims and tons of effects for a low price, but since I'm new with equipment and recording, I'd like confirmation that it would work well.

Although the B1X doesn't have a Balanced Line output (DI) - just instrument outputs - that mixer's first two channels are selectable, and can take an instrument (HI-Z) input.

If you like the unit, you could always get an inexpensive DI box to go with it, and use a mic cable to any of the other inputs on the Mackie.

Thanks for the advice! So we have 3 guitars total and a drummer, so we would need at least one of us to have a balanced line output. What would you recommend for either guitar or bass? I also have a focusrite 4i4 if that works.

Chances are the guitar amps, drums and vocals will be mic'd - so they can use any of the inputs. You can save one of the HI-Z inputs for bass, for sure.

We were all planning on plugging directly into the mixer, would you recommend micing the amps instead? We have 3 mics total, and I'm pretty sure they're all for vocals. One of them is a Shure SM58.
