Does any pickguard fit a 62' Reissue Jazz?

Hey guys.

I've got a 62' reissue lefty Jazz bass and I want to change the pickguard to black, thought about ordering this one:

Will a regular Jazz-style pickguard fit my bass or do I need one with special measures, considering it's a reissue?

There are small differences. For example the number of screw holes, sometimes the position (not so easy to fix), the cutout for the neck-adjustment screw (not needed when the neck-adjustment is near the Head of the neck).
Take a look at this Fender '62 Pickguard: One screwhole more (not a drama), a cutout for the truss rod:

If the screw-holes in the body or the pickguard aren't perfect, you might damage the finish under the pickguard. Modern Poly-Finishes have the tendency to "peel of" in pieces if you push screws that don't match perfectly into the body.


In your shoes and regarding the price I would order it and try it. Chances are high that it fits. But if it doesn't don't do something quick and fast to make it fit that you later might regret.

Oh wow, thanks, I wouldn't want the finish to be damaged or anything like that...

There is an e-bay vendor in the UK, I believe they're called Guitars electric. They get pickguards spec'd for MiM and MiAs. Also, their guards are high quality and they have a decent little collection for lefty Jazzes. Their torties are pretty nice, actually.
