Double Bass Does anybody recognize my EUB?!

A quick update re the shoulders, I've been playing the eub without the shoulders attached and it is a lot more comfortable. Its a lot easier on the hands in terms of reaching the strings and general balance of the instrument.

Any other users have any thoughts/ experiences?

The role of the shoulders on an EUB is usually pretty much to keep the bass a decent distance from you (in the case of IT'S left shoulder,) and to stop your left forearm from getting too frisky in thumb position (in the case of IT'S right shoulder.) These sound like obstacles on their own, but the aim is for it to feel like a 'real' bass (Gepetto.) Honestly, the most important thing that fake shoulders achieve on an EUB is probably to take the weight off your left (or non-bowing/pizzing) thumb, by allowing you to support the bass with your hip. I don't mean to lecture, phatbassdood, if you've got it comfy without the shoulders then that's cool!! :)

I've almost learned to suppress my GAS instinct, but I wonder whether this thing couldn't be a potential Palatino killer? At least in the UK? (Where we have no Ergo, Kydd etc.) It's hollow and everything! We like hollow, don't we?

oh, we certainly do like hollow, especially a woody, thumpin kind of hollow :)

I need to check out some strings though, a couple of the ones mine came with are lookin a bit ragged - I think I'll look through the Palatino thread for that since they two instruments seem to have some similarities.

It seems good on paper ... just wish I could find one. Since you can't predict the manufacturers name, it's difficult to compose a reliable ebay search. And I know of no shops (UK) that have them.

Cash Converters my British chums.

I have seen three in 3 different Crack converters in the past 3 years.
I wonder if the 3 cubed is significant?

It would be worth getting in touch with your local branch as (as far as i know) they deal with several chinese instrument import companies.
I am assuming cash converters is a firm and not a series of franchises.

Hiya gang,

I know Thomann carried these basses for a while, although they don't seem to anymore. That might still be a possible line of enquiry. (EDIT: They were calling them 'Harley Benton')

I'm still pretty dead set on an Eminence RN4 though, as I might have to play an EUB as my main bass for the majority of next year. :ninja:

I wonder whether these threads would benefit from being merged, btw... just 'throwing it out there' :)

Sorry to revive an old thread, but this bass has resurfaced on eBay as "Pro Concert" and "Santini". To those of you who own an Arrow, I'm interested in what you think of it now that you've owned it for a while.

Has anyone bought this bass from "too cool for school" music store on ebay? The bass that they are sellling looks like the one that was being talked about on this thread....

If so,how is it working out for you as far as tone and playabilty?
