Does anyone else enjoy playing bass non-electric

It's okay to do once in a while, and can get you a diffrent feel for your instrument.
But practicing exclusively un-amplified poses problems: You risk to be digging in too hard in order to hear yourself, and you won't hear unwanted fret noise or strings ringing, or other inconsistencies.

In the end, you will perform amplified, so you should know and work on what your playing sounds like amplified.

I practice all the time without my amp. In fact, for a long time, it was a requirement because I was temporarily renting an apartment & I didn't want to disturb any other tenants.

That said, you probably should neither do that during your band's jam time nor during a gig. lol

When I was practicing something simple like popping and slapping I never used my amp or headphones, etc... just would have been useless noise, all I was going for was technique, and I could hear enough to tell if i was doing something wrong or right...

Whenever I play a bass. ( That I'm considering buying)
I always play it without an amp first.
It's the best way to check, sustain, wood balance, and over-all bass tone.
If it sounds good unplugged, it will sound better plugged in.

Trololololololol.....

Now since the OP opened the gate....

I don't EVER go ampless really. I just don't enjoy being tonally limited to my bass' controls. However, in a solo practice setting, or just sitting around on a lazy day, sometimes I will just sit back with my jazz and pluck a few lines unplugged entirely.

+100
Amps change tone, pickups change tone etc etc Inherent tone = umamped IMHO etc.

And to the OP: a) why would you bother posting a thread that was pointless and sarcastic and b) people came on this thread to offer opinions and help. Don't get ratty because they assumed you weren't a troll. I'm sure they'll know better next time. :eyebrow:
