Does anyone else name inanimate objects?

Tom Haverford put some iPod speakers on a robotic vacuum and named it DJ Roomba.

Whats hot DJ Roomba?

My mom has one of those two burner heaters that mounts to a 5 gallon propane bottle. We all call it Wally because it kind of looks like Wall-E from the movie.

I sense a small trend to naming the robotic vacuum. My mother has one. Its name is Rodney. The first time she said, "I think I'll get Rodney to vacuum today," I wondered if she had hired a cleaning service. She hadn't.

In our house we name the cars and that's it. ("The wheeled pets," my aunt calls them.) We have a 40-year-old Volvo 1800ES named Bridget. :) Not only does "Bridget" sound right, I believe Bridget is the patron saint of Sweden. What could be finer than that?

About 15 years ago my daughter and her future husband, Jason were in the family room when we heard a crash. Everyone came running into the kitchen where the noise originated. Our son and his friend had somehow knocked a canister of flour on the floor (don't ask). My son said "lets go get Charlie and they take off. Jason looks at us and inquires "who's Charlie". Nobody really wanted to answer him but everyone laughed, except Jason. A minute later the boys come back from the garage with a industrial vacuum that sort of looked like R2D2. One of the kids had named it years earlier and it just stuck. Jason just shook his head and they went on their way. Later our daughter explained to us that Jason really thought it was super weird that everyone knew this vacuum as Charlie. We couldn't help ourselves. we started naming a lot of objects around the house just to get a reaction from him. To this day, we name objects and encourage their boys to carry on the tradition. He has finally caved and is starting to name objects.

:-() laughing out loud

Absolutely. My hammer is named Jack, my caulk gun is named McCauley, my snips are named Wesley and my pry bar is named Richard. Not joking.

My sister named my red S10 Caroline, she also named the pasta spoon that looks like a dude (it has 2 "eye holes") Bob, and she named the one w/ 3 "eye holes" Bobalius (like an alien). I name my instruments and that's it

I name lots of things.
Kitchen appliances, figurines, stuffed animals.
We even had an African wall mask named Jethro.

I also give these named objects back stories that are rather dramatic.

I use to entertain my daughter with adventures they were having when she was little.
She loved it. She use to plead with me, "Make it talk to me Mom".

Now that she's grown, if I ask her if she would like to know what the Pillsbury dough boy figurine
and the Mrs Butterworth bottle have been up to in the pantry, she looks at me like I'm schizophrenic.
