Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on these stonefield basses?

No clue about these basses, but they look very nice.
NZ Dollar - which is what I'm presuming the list price is quoted in - is about 0.73 US $...so it's not *that* steep of a price, but other issues might arise...

Hi there, It's Tomm Stanley from Stonefield. Thanks for your interest in the basses we make and if you've got any questions about them feel free to ask here; I'm happy to respond to queries of all sorts in the forum and have once before. If you use the forum Search box and look for Stonefield you should find that discussion. There's also the Contact Form on our website, www.stonefieldmusic.com, which would be more appropriate for the personalised or detailed kind of stuff we discuss with prospective buyers as they're spec'ing out an instrument.
For un-biased opinions on our instruments make sure to check the Media menu on our website for copies of instrument reviews from Bass Player and Bass Guitar magazines, scope out our instagram @stonefield music for lots and lots of pics and there are a few videos on our Stonefield Music You Tube channel as well, with coverage from some of the different shows that we exhibit at and some with players on the instruments. Demo vids are in progress so expect those to be up there some time late August/early September.
All pricing on the website is in US dollars because the kiwi is far too unstable to run an international business on.

And those basses look interesting. Is that a Stratocaster football output jack plate mounted upside down?
Hi Jaybones; no, they've got the look of an inverted Strat jack but we have those made from billet aluminium and they're an integral part of the shielding system.

A closer look showed me that they aren't Strat plates. They look like them from afar, but blowing up the picture I could see that the ends weren't as rounded as Strat plates.

Hi again jaybones. I had just replied to you; I think we must have both been writing at the same time. Yeah, you got it: they're made from a billet of aluminium and that gets machined into these plates at 1.2mm thick. It's a pretty expensive way to do it but I wanted them to be part of the shielding and we just couldn't get clean results from stamping sheet aluminium. The cover plates on the back of the basses are also aluminium at 2mm thick and again are function as part of our shielding.
