Does anyone here have first-hand experience with a Gordon Smith Gypsy Bass ?

I know it's somewhat of a long shot, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

One popped up for sale locally, seems to be in a fine shape for a ~40 year old instrument BUT I have absolutely zero knowledge of this model's possible weak spots. I'm looking for guidance in this respect only, as well as hands-on experiences from those who have either owned or extensively played this particular model.

Old thread I know but just seen. Did you ever get the bass (I have one I’m having to sell in UK-too many basses and too little funds in the bank!)

No I didn't. Deciding against the purchase since I only play short scale basses nowadays, and as interesting as that instrument is it would end up collecting dust...

They’re lovely/interesting old handmade basses but yes- same here. Got one on a whim as I’d been interested for years. great wood/parts/craftsmanship but can’t justify keeping it in current financial climate :-(
