Anybody recognise these?? Approx. 2 5/8 by 1 3/8 or something. Like something out of a big box Jazz guitar. Well shielded! On a Levinson Blade, late 80s.

I see them in their Strat style guitars mostly, but heres a bass with the white cover version.
Wow! Thank you! This is the first one like this I have ever seen besides the one I have, which has a regular "lawsuit" headstock, and an ebony fingerboard. It doesn't have the fancy string tree. Thanks for sharing this. I was almost beginning to think the one I have was one of a kind.
Very similar to the Bartolini 1CB they make for old Gibson basses, which I think is just a couple of millimeters larger.
2.78" x 1.4" (roughly) for the case itself, ie ignoring the mounting ring, would make it a regular guitar humbucker format which is what it looks like to me. Somewhat common to see them in "I want to make a bass as cheaply as possible and I already have these guitar pickups in my factory" style instruments from lots of 70's era import brands.
That would certainly make sense. Although, these were not cheap instruments at this point (around $2500 in today's money) and there was no factory at this point. I guess Mr. Levinson just used what he had on hand, as his focus was on improving the Telecaster.
Steinberger used EMG guitar sized humbuckers in their basses so it’s not unheard of to do that on higher end instruments.
