Does anyone use caffeine pills on gigs?

Usually I bring a thermos of coffee with me to gigs...I am really not a night owl (often in bed by eight pm even on non-work nights) and wake up early so I often struggle with energy and alertness levels on gigs that start at nine pm. The coffee helps me stay alert, awake and sharp.

Last night however I was pressed for time and didn't get a chance to fill my thermos up before leaving the house and figured since we were playing at a place that served food, id be able to get coffee there. Wrong..they had no coffee and only had cold brew which I can't stand.

The lack of coffee made for some difficulties but I pulled through.

Was thinking caffeine pills would be a good thing to keep in my gig bag and came across these on amazon.

Anyone keep these or something similar on hand at gigs?

I've taken coffee with me to gigs in the past...used to do the old NoDoz and Vivarin, 8n the '70s and '80s, then got into "Stackers" in the '90s...too much...I do make espresso like coffee these days...that stuff in the yellow tubs is the "perfect alert"...

When you get to the venue, ask if they will brew a lot.

I did that at the venue we played at last week. Besides being crunched for time the other reason I didn't stop was because it was a place that served food and I figured they'd have some coffee.

Nope...no coffee at all. only cold brew which I find disgusting. not even a microwave to heat that up in.

I did buy those caffeine pills I link to earlier so we'll see how that goes but really nothing gets my mind alert and into gear like downing some coffee throughout the set.
