Does everybody hate the Boss SYB-3?

In my world the boss SYB is a gimmick. A mere toy. I borrowed one for a short while a really couldn't find anything I could use it for. The only thing it has going for it is that it makes a gloriously digital messed up noise that cut's in and out betweel squealing warbling intervals,
when it fails to track every other note. As far as can see it's blatant false advertising on boss' part to suggest that it might have any practical use other than a doorstop.
I've never tried a worse synth. If you can get some consistently good sounds out of it I salute you.

I've tried the Boss pedal a few different times and it was almost like it didn't work right. I couldn't get any good sounds out of it. I've got the Ibanez tone-lock one and it's not the best but it gets the job done.

Boss is absolutely incapable of producing nice sounding filter/synth pedals since the ME-8B processor (there are the only acceptable filters by Boss ever). That's why I sold the absolutely overpriced GT-6B too (piece of crap). Shame on them!!!!

I have a Digitech and primarily use the octaver on it - but it can make some real creepy sounds that I use just for fun. I even hooked it up to my upright and it scared people so much that they kept saying "Turn it off! Have mercy on us and turn it off!" I can get mine to sound like an organ and it sounds pretty cool. I have had a few Boss pedals, but never the Synth pedals.

I'm working on my brand new SYB-3 (not so new, I buy it used). There's only 1 effect i find cool, the wah!

I've recorded a little riff to see how it sound! I use midi for the drums and melody... don't judge them, they are doing their best

Dude, that is an awesome clip. Very nice. I can't exactly tell what the SYB-3 is doing, but the music is excellent.

You can hear the effect in higher sounds.... It is like a wah-wah (in fact, it's a auto-wah) I could have use more of it, but we are learning every day, no?
