. We joke about her youngest brother being her sister, but that's a story over a few beers, and not TalkBass, and not necessarily with internet "strangers" 
I wonder if the YYZ pedal would push enough volume to my Crown 1502 power amp. I am really into buying preamp pedal to check new sounds.
I thought I would test this by plugging into the FX return on my Trickfish Bullhead .5k, thus bypassing the built in preamp. Although I was able to get a decent signal just from the YYZ, I did have to turn up the master to max, and it was nowhere near the tone of the YYZ via the built in preamp. Usually that Master is at 50% when I set things the way I like.
The guys at SA are some of the best along with Brian at Subdecay.They know how to treat customers.
Great piece of kit.I don't know if it can be used as a preamp though it says it's Geddys' rack mount in pedal form.As much as I love my Darkglass Harmonic booster and Vintage Microtubes I'm using the YYX more and more.The middy grit is awesome,and it's so finger responsive.I recommend it.
For those still following this thread, I have an update. After a couple of gigs, I think today I pretty much dialed in my YYZ sound. It's very close to the Warm Tube/Studio setting only I a) turned down the drive a smidge, b) brought the highs back up a smidge, and c) pushed the Tight button IN. Not zingy and over-bright. But not wooly and retro, either. It just had a nice punch, that great attack Geddy gets when he digs in.
I also had my HPF and my compressor on, helping things stay tight and controlled. Finally I am able to sit in the mix where I need to be, but also have that rockin' tube emulation thing going on in just the right way.

That's pretty close to the settings I used last weekend at a gig. I think I have my mids up a bit higher, but also with the tight button in. I had my compressor on as well. My tone was a little knarly (in a very good way) deep and punchy. paired really well with my Genzler MG800.
Nice. Ironically, I was running through a wee little Hartke KB12 Kickback. Doing a lot of controls on the bottom end lets me get a lot of volume out of this little guy. I also have 112 and 115 cabs to run under my Carvin BX1500, but I haven't tried that with the YYZ yet.
I'm going on only my 2nd week with this pedal and I really dig it.I've been using mainly the YYZ and Roundabout settings but I will try your suggestion.I'm only playing in my Man Cave through a tiny PJB Double Four and it stokes my imagination as to what this'll sound like through my SWR stack.At any rate it sounds wonderful through my little shoebox marvel.If I were back in my gigging heyday I'd spring for a rack version with power amp.This is certainly a golden age for gear.My first Tech 21 piece of kit but they've hit it out of the park with the Gedal,imo.
Update. I have since bought a 2017 Ibanez BTB745. I think it's going to replace my Warwick as my daily driver.
At apartment level, I find the attached gives me a nice grit/sizzle without messing with my fundamental bump. Try this. A/B it against your dry signal.

I understand using the Aftershock as an effect, but I am curious—are you able to replicate the YYZ with the Aftershock or is the YYZ able to go to a place the Aftershock and/or your Neuro editing skills are unable to follow at this time?
This is a very good question. I'm not sure I can answer it definitively, but here's some of my thoughts on the issue. First, I expect that I could adequately emulate the YYZ on the Aftershock. If I put in the time to do so. But that would leave another issue for me which is I don't want to use one pedal for two sounds. I want two pedals. One always on, one on temporarily for one song a set.
In other news, I have tweaked the YYZ even more. The Drive, Mix, and Tight are the same, but the EQ section can vary. Right now I have it just slightly scooping the EQ and boosting the signal and just adding a little character and grit to the tone. It sounds more like an electric instrument and less like rubber bands. It livens it up a little. I'm really digging it.
And then engaging the Aftershock for that one or two overdriven effects is great. This is a good combo, IMO.
