Does more watts = more tone?

IF your speakers are capable of handling the added wattage, then you can get more "oomph" and strength in the low end that way. But generally speaking, no--more watts do not = more tone.

when i read the op, this was pretty much what i thought, just in different words.

more wattage gives you better tone as the volume increases. Low watt amps start to distort when the volume is turned high. High wattage amps wont do that and they will keep the tone as the volume increases.

I dont know that forsure....QSC say on their website that when powering cabs or induvidual speakers that the power rating should be at min the rms rating of the cab or double !!
