I've found that as long as you have good "bones" in an instrument (body, neck, tight neck joint, construction, etc.), the rest can be modded out, if need be. With the Cort, you have that, plus nice hardware (did I mention Hipshot?) and decent enough pickups & electronics. I don't own one personally, but played one - not bad at all!The Cort Curbow is exactly it.$300-$500 USD, with:
5 stringer
34" scale
MMJ or just MM style pups
Frequent gig/long term durability
Reliable electronics/tuners/bridge/neck etc.
preferably a "rock" look
Passive or active/easy to mod
