My new bass ('83 Wunkay) seems to know the songs I play better than my old CIJ PB62... can you explain that? Whatever it is, I like it.

In my case, this phenomenon is named "right tool for the job." My new P bass knows MOST of the old blues/R&B/classic rock songs I play better than my old MM StingRay. However, the old StingRay still knows the (very few) newer slap and pop songs I try to play better than the new P.

Funny how that works...

The better a bass "fits" you the less attention you have to give to the mechanics of the bass = more intuitive/feel playing. IMHO

I think it's a G&L thing. My L-2500 practically plays itself. I struggle with my Fender on about anything and my Lakland falls somewhere in between. Easier than the Fender, but not like BUTTAH like the G&L.
