Saw the bass locally advertised , contacted he then said it was in cali and would be shipped to me, this is what he said



Back in 1957 my late father purchased this guitar brand new, in hopes of becoming a great guitar player. However, after a few lessons, he realized it was not going to be his thing, so he put the guitar away in it's case for safe keeping. He kept this guitar over the years, and it was rarely ever taken out. Therefore it remains in like-new condition. My father recently passed away, so I am selling the guitar.I am located in California and the guitar will be shipped from here directly to you have no worries.Serial #13936. The date 12/56 is penciled on the end of the neck and the intial "R" appears on the body in the neck pocket cavity.More pics are attached via email.If you are still interested to buy it please email me back.

The serial number could be authentic, he may have gotten it from a real 56 precision.

It is. it's a real bass, and someone was (at one time, probably not now) selling this exact bass, and probably had another Zero at the end of the asking price too...

That's how these scammers work. They take over existing ads, lower the price, and wait for dumb people to wire-transfer them money.

Happened to me once on a CL ad for an apartment listing. I showed a co-worker friend of mine the "great deal". She was like, hmmm, looks familiar...
Turned out, it was her old boss' apartment! They jacked his email address, photos, listing, and, put a fake price on it - and let the scamming begin!
